Agree. But I think that the reason men are falling behind at school is also because traditional gender roles. I mean, in the past there used to be plenty of blue collar works that allowed men to earn a decent wage without going to college. Those jobs were considered "manly". And have been idealized by conservative people.

But economy has changed and now there are less blue collar jobs and more need for qualified jobs. Some men adapt and pick up the skills for those jobs and others expect the world to change to make things easier for them and try the world to go back to those traditional values and society setting that used to benefit men. That is MAGA in a nutshell, some people refusing to adapt to the way things are now.

But if we want to help boys, we do need to teach them all those skills and talents that used to be considered "feminine" or "nerdy" (nerds were also considered losers and not manly for some reason). What doesn't work is to tell boys that "what is cool is to be a jock and being a nerd is for losers" when studying hard is what would offer them more opportunities. Or teach them that domestic skills are for women, when most likely they would need to live alone when they get their first job. Neither is a good idea to let them think they are superior to women, when that would make them lose on opportunities and worse at teamwork (which is a needed skill in many jobs). They would be working with women, so they need to learnt to work with them. And that includes being respectful and not underestimating them, because they might need favours from them.

It might not seems obvious, but sexism might hurt boys future opportunities more than we realize. It limits them.

Fiction is the art to tell lies to show truths. Politics is the art to use truths to tell lies.
