Boys pick up on more things than you think, so boys pick up on the fact that men are the majority of politicians, CEOs, the main characters in movies... To the point that some of them think that men have done everything in history. That men were the only inventors (false), scientist (also false), were the kings and the rulers, everything. From their perspective that was great and some of them would like to go back to that.

Maybe the mesage we need is that the future is shared, but it is not bad that boys learn that girls can do everything too. Because many times it is not only girls who aren't told that, but also boys and that affects at how they treat girls and how they see them. Also limit their options, since they refuse to learn from women when there might be things that they need to learn from them.

So the question is, would it be terrible if your son decide to be a stay at home parent while your daughter becomes a scientist? Or the other way around. I think both need choices and most people won't lead (there is only one president in the whole country). And it is OK.

Boys aren't being discriminated, but now they are made to share. Surely when you used to have it all, have half of things is less. But that is not being discriminated against. Just look at cartoons, most characters are male. movies? the same. authority figures? mostly males. And they feel discriminated because one song and a few adds? I think most girls would trade without a thought. And maybe that is the reason for more women going to university. They used to be forbidden from going, they know they have more to prove to get a good job. So they put the effort that boys think/know they don't need. After all, they have men like Zuckenberg to show them that they can be successful without that. Or men who have achieved a lot at blue collar jobs. Boys still have "locker room talk" where they put down the girls. And 4chan and plenty of sites where they are taught that girls and women are less than. When you are taught that, you would understimate girls and risk being surpased. Not because they have been discriminated against, but because they thought that they don't need to do any effort to get ahead.

Maybe the real discrimination boys face is that they are not taught how to deal with failure or not being "winners" all the time, because many people need to fail before they can succed. And it is not that terrible if they aren't the best at everything and they need to work as a team with their partners.

Fiction is the art to tell lies to show truths. Politics is the art to use truths to tell lies.
