Care to put specific examples? Because it sounds as if you are annoyed about quotas that correct the positive discrimination whites indulge today, not in the past.

I'll give you a nice example. Slavers made a fortune selling black people. Slavery was banned, but the slavers keep the money who was inherited by their descendants. That inherited money, helps them now to get into the very expensives universities. On the other hand, slaves go their freedom, but nothing else. So their children, inherit nothing or debts from just surviving, so they have no money to pay for fancy colleges. Since now going to colleges secure the best jobs, without some positive discrimination, slavers descendants would secure the best jobs today thanks to the money inherited from their slavers ancestors. Doesn't seem in the past to me. But I'm guessing that talking about what happened with that money is considered "distasteful". It is easier to look the other way and say "I'm not guilty of what my ancestor did!" meanwhile keeping the money. Well, you got to keep the money, losing a few places at university seems quite a low price for that. Just keep that in mind.

If you truly wanted to make it about "merit" then education should be free (subsidized) and only blind test be considered for entrance. Same for everyone.

Fiction is the art to tell lies to show truths. Politics is the art to use truths to tell lies.
