Even reading your take on the speech it seems to me that you are the one with cognitive dissonance. Not that I'm surprised. People who uphold the status quo, rarely notice the advantage they have.

But I want to point out that you admitted that the examples she mentioned were true. She is not lying even by your own account. You just don't consider those things a problem (since they aren't for you). You consider a problem that she choose to speak up about it.

And maybe you should ask yourself why that makes you uncomfortable. What would happen if people stop being homophobic? What would we lose then?

Nothing I would miss, but what would you miss if suddenly people stop using slurs? To put a very simple example.

But sure, she is being selfish by asking people to respect others. hahaha
