I disagree. Men do get a lot of empathy. Their point of view is usually considered more important than everyone else. I think the real problem here is that after a whole life being told that you are "too sensitive" and "need to grow a thick skin" and similar things, when men come to complain about the things that they themselves have told you are "not a big deal" and that you need to be "tougher" and put up with that, sometimes the reaction is, instead of showing empathy, to tell them the same thing they told us.

They were successful in convincing us that "it wasn't a big deal" so still isn't a big deal when it happen to them. That is the thing, they thought "it would never happen to them" so they deemed those things "unimportant". And when those things happen to them? They suddenly change their tune and decide it is now important.

Sure, you can ask us to be "the bigger person", but it would only would work if we still think it is wrong and a big deal. If they have managed to convince us it is not wrong, then it is still not wrong when it happens to them.

Fiction is the art to tell lies to show truths. Politics is the art to use truths to tell lies.
