The thing that comes to mind is that while musicians can make money giving concerts, with video game creators is more complicated.
I mean, many videogames are the work of many unknown programmers (collective effort)and they don't have something similar to concerts.
So while I agree that piracy/open source has advantages, it would also be interesting to talk about alternative ways that allow the content creators (designers, programmers, artist, etc) to get compensated/have some income. After all, jobs like being a tester are not glamorous but certainly make the game better. Yet, if we were only to use patreon, chances are that their contribution won't be as appreciated as the more visible faces of the team.
