I think that you mix diferent things that might be related but aren't the same.

1. Being the "breadwinner" can be described differently depending who you ask. You can have pasive income and no need to work in order to provide for yourself or even for your whole family. Also, you can have a job and not be the main breadwinner due your partner making more money.

2. Working/having a job. Some people have turn to trade or have their business and no need to work. The ones that live with their parents, might have decided that they rather play videogames because they don't want to put with low wages and jobs were workers aren't valued. And this is increasingly more common. Companies that fire people who work well just because it is good for their balances. Why deal with that if you don't need it?

3. Suicide. Apparently, one of the main reasons people commit suicide is lonelyness. When people moves around, stay for short time in the same job and basically have their families miles away from them, you can become isolated. No family and no friends that you can see face to face is hard.

So maybe the problem has nothing to do with women joining the workforce or feminism, but with jobs but with workplace culture. And the insistance that your job and how much you earn defines you is quite reductive. People is much more than that.

Fiction is the art to tell lies to show truths. Politics is the art to use truths to tell lies.
