I think you are the one with poor reading skills. Disney might not lose all the fandom, but would lose more than would won by catering to the Alt-right. Alt-right also complained about Rei, Frozen and Black Panther. Numbers and profits remained high. On the other hand, I think that the Alt-righters won’t give up on star wars + Marvel. So firing Carano is basically about doll sales (and other merchandise).

I’m not from US either. And since you use the word “american” I want to point out that while I live in the UE, Latin america is also america. Is a Huge market and what do you know? The racist things mean losing sales there. I don’t project things on you, I just read your rhetoric and identify it as Alt-right. Not just that, you claim to be against cancel culture, but consciously ignore that the Alt-right and other right wingers are calling to unsubscribe disney and to cancel Alyssa Milano. You seem to be perfectly OK with that cancel. That means you have a clear different set of values depending on the political sign of the person being cancelled.

And yes, children love Frozen, a movie with liberal values. But the parents are the ones paying the subscriptions to disney or other channels. Also deciding what their children see. Disney knows it. And Hasbro.

Not just that, the dating apps that cater to right wingers have even less women than the other dating apps. That shows a trend. You might not like it, but while the far right is very vocal, their numbers doesn’t add up. On the other hand, while you claim that the sensibilities hurt are just a vocal few, the sales and the numbers show a much broader support. For example: Black Panther and wonder woman were huge box office success and extremely profitable, with plenty of merchandise that were sold. And that despite a “very vocal” campaign of downvote in rotten tomatoes.

Claim what you want but analytics would tell you (specifically clustering) that there is huge correlation between sexists, homophobes, racist, transphobia and so on. Gina Carano seems to check several of those boxes. And she can say what she wants, but people can also dislike her for that. People don’t have an obligation to support her views. Same happens to Alyssa Milano. She is cancelled by far right. Apparently, that doesn’t create dissonance with her current jobs like Gina’s, so she is not fired.

It is simple. And by the way, you also ignored what happened to the right sweethearts once controversy is over. But it looks to me as if they are being forgotten and out of work.

But if you want examples of conservatives that are doing well on hollywood, look at Arnold or Clint Eastwood. No one cancel them, because they know and respect their public. Gina doesn’t. Trying to blame “SJW” or “wokeness” as the reason for her failure is just absurd and projection on your part. I don’t divide the world in two, but look at patterns and data. And that tells me Disney did right by their shareholders letting go of a troubling employee that didn’t bring the expected revenue. They also did right by their fans and customers. And by their other employees who were troubled by Gina’s actions. Seems pretty rational to me. It is you who claim it is about politics. XD

Fiction is the art to tell lies to show truths. Politics is the art to use truths to tell lies.
