Ironically, I think the church would improve/win by championing human rights (gay, trans, women...). If they focused on things like being actually compassionate, fighting hunger, illness, poverty and peace and ditching the hate.
But if we have learned something from the current pope is that when you try to focus catholic church on fighting against poverty, the most fanatics members, turn your back on doctrine. Apparently, that is too progressive for them.
You are doing a good work. I hope you success on offering a better vision on how the church should be. It is their loss if they can accept gays, not the other way around.
