It is interesting. But it could also be a "budget" thing. I mean, when I did the classical visit to some film studios, one of the things that they explain to you is that the same scenarios, tools, and recording studios are used for very different shows. The same house used to record a comedy and a horror film with a few changes and different lights. So the AK things might be because the used the same "props" they have for other films adapted to look more "starwars". That is, they might just wanted to save money by reusing things.
Which doesn't detract to the end result on imaginery, even if it could be not intentional. In fact, sometimes the not intentional part of certain film could be better than the original aim.
