Gina simply was fired for using hate speech and making Disney lose money because of that.

Now, you dislike the "cancel" culture, but the counterpart would be to force people to see and buy things they don't like. Or for companies to accept loses that would mean firing other employees when they need to make cuts. I don't see how it is fair that anonymous people because Gina decides to use hate speech in a society that are disgusted by that. I mean, she has the right to make that choice, but the consequences shouldn't be a surprise, especially when other people warned her.

And let's be honest here, while she pretend she is "rebelling" she comes from a position of power. She is famous and had star wars platform to make her message heard. She has been heard which is the opposite of being silenced. Now pays the price for that, but that is exactly the price she chose to pay.

And if in her heart of hearts she expected to avoid consequences under the premise that star wars fans would shield her from criticism, then she it is because she probably have got away with similar things before. But this time it was the last straw.

Privilege has limits and not famous people is fired for saying the wrong things all the time. Specially if those things create an hostile work environment for others like the things Gina said. Not because morals, but because that make the companies liable to legal actions and cost them a lot of money.

As I keep repeating you, Free speech has consequences and limits designed to preserve other people's rights. Gina intentionally crossed that limit, so she chose to face consequences or maybe just "challenged"people under the idea that she won't have consequences (your assumption that people would keep watching star wars no matter what). Well, she was wrong. It is up to her and others to learn from that.

I'm quite surprised that people are asking for special treatment in this case regardless of the negative consequences that shielding her would have for other people. If the mandalorian fails because of her, all the people working on that project would be fired. How is that fair?
