Most men aren't pedophiles. But I think most people have trouble dealing with that problem.

I mean, when you look at legislation about "age of consent" you see there is resistance to raise it in many places (from both sexes). And religious people tend to say that a girls "becomes a woman" when she first has her period, which can happen at 10. But even at 13 years ols, she is still a girl.

Yet, many places allow marriage at that age (and many priest perform such weddings). Many of those wedding are arranged by parents. Are we supposed to believe that those marriages aren't consumated? Well, the number of births in those marriages says otherwise.

The cultural preference for virgins, is what makes many older men seek literal girls as wives/for sex. And yes, they are a minority, but people aren't reacted disgusted enough to push for banning child marriage. And even when that push exist, there is still conservative strong resistance to call the child marriage pedophilia even if it is.

So maybe that is what our society is missing, a much stronger reaction to the normalization of that kind of pedophilia.

But since some progress is being made (And I hope laws won't go back), I would take it as things improving in that regard.
