Not really. This is like believing in unicorns. A myth that people have repeated so many times that they think it was true. But read history books. Or even novels. You'll notice women as factory workers, women working the fields, at farms, as servants, in their husbands' business... And after all that, they also had to do the domestic chores and the caring. Just like now. Only rich women were an exception.
Just take a look at the classic stories. Farm girls? Peasant girls taking care of some sheeps? Milking cows? Where did those roles come from? Well, from women doing those jobs, physical jobs... But somehow men have convinced women that those jobs weren't real or physical or that were secondary because reasons... Again, read about factory work, you'll notice women did in fact worked there.
