Not true. The "Marks" want a woman who work in the home and play pretend that any minimum effort is a big deal while ignoring the efforts and sacrifices women make.

Specify what you call "their efforts". Going to work and paying bills? Because many people do that while being single. Many couples work full time and split the bills. What does Mark at home? Does he knows what "Jane" likes? Or does he just assumes that getting flowers and jewels should be enough because, of course, women do like that? And does Mark care about physical attraction? Or is he fixed in Jane because she is conventionally pretty?

Honestly, conservative women might be happy with the Marks, but progressive women want real reciprocity. If they work full time, they want the same care and recognition that Mark is asking for himself. But the Marks are not willing to do that, they prefer to be the ones in control and have you under their feet. Of course it doesn't work.

Fiction is the art to tell lies to show truths. Politics is the art to use truths to tell lies.
