Ok, I'm going to tell you the obvious. When women say "there are no good men", they usually don't mean that they aren't getting dates, but that they aren't finding men they like. And many times, when the choice is to be with someone they don't like or be single, they chose to be single as what they want. It is quite rational, by the way.
If you have one date and doesn't work, it is because they didn't like you. For whatever reason. And sometimes the reason is just that conversation is not fluid or that you don't have a common interest. No big deal, it happens to everyone. There is not a magic formula to make someone like you. That is the thing.
So those women are more afraid of being with the wrong person, than being single.
To use your same analogy sometimes is better to be out of the market than sell under cost and lose money to remain open. ;)
