Remind me the “banality of evil”. But my guess is that she probably denies how much pain and hurt she is causing. She probably think that “she is helping” and that staying in the church is the right thing to do even if the church is “imperfect”. Or even worse, she might even think that if “you correct your ways you would be much better off”.

Her reasons doesn’t really matter. She is hurting people and that people have every right to walk away from abuse.
