So basically the same that drove the men to those women. After all, the work they get from those women has economic value. And having a "submissive wife" is considered a symbol of status among some men. Seems balanced to me.

And since those women really didn't had the traditional values that you though they have, once they get what they want, there is no point in the marriage. They do that out of necessity. Once they no longer have it, there is no point in staying unless the husband proves to be able to adapt and develop a real relationship where they have equality.

Sure, some women are groomed to put up with inequality, but once they see alternatives, they usually prefer equality. Is perfectly logical.
