Some do get it. The problem is that some of the ones who get it, also do know that you have outperformed and in a real meritocrazy, they would go down in the social order. I mean, they have been outperformed, without racism, they might be in lower paying jobs and they know it.

So while you are absolutelly right, selfish individuals might chose their own benefit over society benefit. Sad but true.
