Statistically, single women live longer than married women. But I think it has to do with caring. Married men usually have younger wives that take care of then when they get ill or grow old. That is hard work that single women doesn't have to do. So when the caring work is split more equally, both genders would live longer while married because they would have another person taking care of them when they don't feel well.
On the other hand, I think men would benefit from learning a few domestic skills, like cooking and planning a healthy diet. Or visiting the doctor when they don't feel well without someone having to "nag" them to do it.
