The people worth it would be the ones that are putting as much work as you or, better, make it easier.

For exaple: If you say "I like scifi", they would say "I've heard of a new film comming up" giving you a cue to said back "we can go together". Or "I'm into cars", and then they say "I've always wanted to learn about mechanics" so you can offer to explain things. It kind of "flows". Bonus points if they aren't into those things but try just to get closer to you.
