The real question is, why do they think that submision is needed for marriage? I mean, it seems to me that the real problem is not marriage, it is an unequal marriage where the woman is expected to submit.

But in a rational equal marriage, the domestic chores would be shared as it is the earning income burden. And the husband should support the wife if she needed.

Of course that might be difficult to find. But now there is no real reason to marry if the other person is not willing to be a partner.
