The thing is that the “more healthy” doesn’t come out of no where, it is encouraged by a government that wants to cut healtare cost. I would say that it is “game theory”.
Of course lobbies want to privatize to make profit out of our health, but people who enjoy public healthcare won’t admit certain cuts in healthcare. And even private insurances are forced to chage less money, since they have a tough competition in “free” public healthcare.
Also, since it is “free” (or already paid), people go to the doctor for regular check or when they have the first symptoms, get treatments earlier and pass viruses to less people. US people wait too long to go to the doctor because it is expensive. And self medicate more than they should.
There are rankings for healthcare. Now your system is way lower than what US deserves/can afford. Because health insurance companies focus on their profit and since it is life or death, they can charge what they want. If you need an ambulance, you aren’t in a position to search for a cheaper hospital. The way it works there, the more people ill, the happier the hospital, so why focus on prevention?
It is basic games theory.
