This is something that we used to joke about customers when you work as a consultant. That we are expected to read minds. XD

But in practice, when a relationship has existed for some time and you have listened to the other person and know them, many times you do know what they need and want without them explicitly saying it. I mean, if every monday is laundry day, your partner might expect you to do laundry even if not explicitly told. If your partner likes fresh orange juice in the morning and you see that you are out of oranges, you might think to buy more. Specially if you are doing groceries for other things.

It is also fair to say that many men are very good at "reading" their partners minds. Which is also to say that many men care about their partners enough to anticipate those little things. XD
