Tinder and other dating apps have made approaching a worse strategy than just using the app. At places like pubs and clubs where many people approach, people feel more confident flirting and approaching. What doesn't make sense at all is to approach an stranger in the street (people would see you as a salesperson, scammer or, worse, a mugger), or in a parking lot (dangerous).
Think about it, if a perfect stranger approached you at a parking lot, won't you be thinking that it has bad intentions? I will. Most public places aren't good for that. Now, a fair, town festivities, clubs and other places where people go to meet other people, that is different. So men are doing the right thing by not approaching and using apps, makes everything simpler.
