True. Polite and nice things can be done by everyone and for everyone. And others can be discarded. For example: hold the door for people that come after you, old people, children or with their hands full. Where I live, everyone holds the door for the others. That is the norm.

Or you send flowers for people at the hospital, to celebrate someone you are not that close to, etc. Like a coworker who has a promotion but you are not close to.

And anyone can plan a date. And the one that does the plan and choose the place, pays. Makes perfect sense.
