True, they forgot that the perfect market is an utopia and that there was 10 premise for it to exist, none of them happen in the real world.
Also, they forgot that some liberals do in fact know about economy. That is why they think that liberals "cheat" when they do well economically speaking. For them is "cheating" when in practice it is just proof of their cognitive disonance.
Anyway, since it is an emotional topic, maybe the "information" campaign should be about personal stories. Maybe liberals should show how "my mother had cancer but since we hace free healthcare, she was diagnosed soon and treated succesfully. And it cost us nothing!". Which rationally people know, but emotionally doesn't. In Europe we joke that "breaking bad" wouldn't have happened if Walter lived here, because he would just have go to Social security/national insurance and be treated. The end.
You are right that there are plenty of measures. Like life expectancy or mortality rates. Or quality of life. But in that regard, pride might get in the way. I mean, if you think that your country is the best at everything, learning something from other countries to improve yours would make no sense. It should be the other countries learning from yours. I mean, some USA people think that they subsidice our healthcare even if that makes no sense and USA people are the ones travelling to other countries for surgery...
I think that unless there is an Opra running stories, it is going to be difficult for people to see it. But we have to try anyway.
