We already take pictures of catcallers (There is even a website), answer back and so on. The thing is that the answer to that have been… mixed. Some people have stopped and other complain loudly or even aggressively about how “feminazis” want to feminize men. As if catcalls and harassment were part of being a man or something.

Social power dynamics meant that change would be slower. I guess the difference is that while all people agree that have trash on the streets or on your house is bad, some people still think that women should “be put on our place”, that is, that we should put up or even be “flattered” by any kind of “attention”. It is bullshit, but reason and logic won’t sway them. I agree it is about low self esteem and being insecure.
