What I find interesting is that when you point out that Johnny's career was already on free fall before he met Amber, they get angry. I mean, not only Caribbean Pirates 5th box office dropped more than 20% from the previous, but before that, he was on Mortdecai, which in turn was also his 5th consecutive flop and lost money to their investors. And looking into that film, it was about 60 millions of budget, so not an indie film.
Neither they like to be pointed out that even before Amber, his follower base was significant lower than his direct competition for blockbusters roles. I mean, the Rock has over 270 million versus 17 from Johnny. Chris Prat is over 40 millions, almost 3 times.
And while we see plenty of post saying that they won't go see Caribbean Pirates without Johnny, it is interesting to notice that they didn't went to see Mortdecai. Not are saying that they would go see Johnny's next film.
Point is, Johnny's career wasn't in a good place before Amber. Now thanks the trial he has achieve free publicity that he might or he might not use to relaunch his failing career. Although he did have less followers than he used to have, which means that he might not be as profitable as all the noise make it look. And that is the key, he has blamed her to make people forget about Mortdecai and his other flops, but he has failed to create expectation for his next film, so he stil has the same problem he has before meeting her: producers and directors might still preffer less controversial and more reliable actors. And if he doesn't get a big win soon, he would fade again into "old celebrity who doesn't get big roles anymore so it turns to indie movies". It is a matter of time.
