You are right. But sometimes I think that boys are even in more need to see women in more roles. I'll try to explain, now we told girls that they can do anything and offer them examples of women who have done it before. But we don't show their brothers that women can do anything. So while the girls grow up more independent and open minded, the boys still see women as "the cooks" and think that men do "everything else". So even if girls grow up knowing their value, the boys won't value them.
We should aim to be references to both. After all, it would be great if they wanted to be "the male version" of Marie Curie. Or Ada. Or Hedy. Or any of the brilliant women who are references on their field.
