You are right. Although for my grandmas "better" was going to university. I mean, both my aunt and my mother went to university with my grandmas support.
What we heard at home was that they were happy but that we should take advantage of the opportunities we have now.
I guess they think that it was "too late" for them to change, but that for us going to the university was the obvious choice. In my family, the general view was that you go to university, after that do what you want and if you change your mind, the title would give you options. After all, you can be a SAHP with a title, but getting a good job without it, is more difficult.
But my grandmas didn't have that choice and I think that they didn't want us to have the same regret that they did.
